Product Description

Originally developed for the Swedish Department of Defense, Swedish FireSteel is a flash of genius. Its 3,000°C spark makes fire building easy in any weather, at any altitude. Used by a number of armies around the world, Swedish FireSteel’s dependability has already made it a favorite of survival experts, hunters, fishermen and campers. It has also found its way into cabins and backyards as a fool-proof way to light stoves and gas-barbecues.

Operating Instructions

1. Take a small quantity of cotton balls, TinderDust, dryer lint or any other flammable material. Build them up into a pile.


2. a) Grip the FireSteel with one hand
b) Take hold of the striker with the other hand
c) Position the striker against the FireSteel


3. Forcing the striker "slowly down" with the thumb of hand holding the FireSteel

    One of these always lives in my pack, along with a few cotton balls soaked in vaseline. A simple, reliable, lightweight piece of insurance that may save your butt some day. I don't go in the backcountry without it.

    These make a TON of sparks, and get a fire started as well as any striker I've seen. Combine one of these with a few cotton balls soaked in petroleum jelly and you'll have a fire anytime, even when it's wet out. I always carry these two simple items in my pack.

    These make very effective fire-starting tools once you get the hang of it. Adds another element to being outdoors and relying off the land a little more.
