The Meaning of Trad Out:

    Everyone longs for the outdoors.  The yearning to connect with nature, the chance to let our minds  escape our daily realities. Being outdoors allows us to feel alive and gives us the sense that we all belong to something bigger than we are.  We are enveloped in the instincts and emotions along with the adrenaline rush we experience by being outdoors.  We ponder what it must be like for each living creature, big and small, to survive year-round in the elements.  
    Trad Out is a retail company inspired by getting outdoors and the feelings that are associated with it.  To us it doesn’t matter whether you are traditional bowhunting or hiking, a backcountry skier or working on the perfect cast.  All that matters to us is that you get outdoors and make it a tradition to do so.  The emotions that fill us while we are outdoors is the reason we get out of bed, why we sleep weird hours and why we are always on the search for the perfect outdoor gear and outdoor inspired products.  We get outdoors.  We make it a tradition to do so.  We Trad Out!

The History of Trad Out and Robertson Stykbow:

    There are some exciting new changes happening at Robertson Stykbow!  Since 1978 we have helped supply the bowhunting community with some of the most beautiful, high performance, traditional bows in the world.  RS has always been a family business with Dick, Vikki, and our three children Yote, Yana, and Yavon.  Recently, we have started a new business called Trad Out  which will not only sell Robertson Stykbow Bows but also a complete line of traditional bow accessories, and various other  outdoor products we use in the field, as well of outdoors inspired products and unique gifts.
    Yana, my eldest daughter, is the general manager of Trad Out and has a huge passion for the outdoors.  She grew up shooting traditional bows and hunting with me and Yote, ever since she could pick up rattling antlers she has been hunting. She holds a degree in Professional and Technical Communications, has an emphasis in graphic design, and also a minor in business administration.  She has worked in the retail industry in Sitka, Alaska for over six years and enjoys playing in the Alaskan and Montana wilderness!  
    Yote has been building bows with me in the shop off and on his entire life.   The last few years while pursuing passions of his own, he is now a registered guide in the state of Alaska.  During the off season he takes on a large part of the bow manufacturing  and has become a great bowyer, giving me the opportunity for more design and product field testing .  With Yote building bows and me behind him we can insure that we will continue to create the best traditional bows on the market today.   Vikki has and will continue to work in her secretarial duties, retail and online sales.  And shares our passion for the outdoors.   Yavon has moved back to Montana and will assist in sales and customer relations to coincide with her retail experience and adventures in Alaska and Montana (she also has a huge obsession for her dogs).
